Thematically one statement, "Reluctantly" even tops Suicide Forest's prior LP - which is a pretty strong record. This is something else. This shows a deep and utterly unafraid conviction by A. Kruger to reveal what is beneath the surface in his mind. From the submerged "Overkill"-like drums that kick-off track 2, to the next track which slow dirge inverses the same melody line, to the final spoken word speech (confession?) - everything is in its right place. A devastating & solitary album.

As hard as it is to make "plain old black metal" in a day and age when the sound has been overly saturated with cheaply face-painted bands that curse at Christians, Dumal might've brought some new life to a stale genre without having to innovate in any way other than feeling fully genuine.
